Michael McMullen gave Partick the lead then an own goal by Ben Stirling made it 3-1 to the visitors.
Matthew McInally made it 4-1 before Aaron Dunsmore puled one back.
Afterwards Joe McBride, Hibs U20 Development Coach told the club website: “Nobody can defend like that at any level of football and expect to come away with a positive result. Today we asked them to start at a high intensity on and off the ball, which I thought we did, we controlled the game until we lost the first goal.
“Then we lost our way a bit, before finishing the first half strongly again and hit the bar twice. At the start of the second we were too hurried to get the ball forward, and lost three goals in a ten minute spell – you can’t do that at any level.
“I thought we started quickly in the first, but I told them that it’s very rare that you dominate a football game for 90 minutes and in the times that you are not in control you have to be resolute and make sure you don’t give anything away. In that 15 minute spell where we weren’t in the game, we lost three goals and it effectively kills the game.”
Hibernian Development Squad: Reguero, Dunsmore, Forster (McGregor, 73), Waugh, Stirling, Scott (Murray, 58), Martin, Stanton, Watson, Boyle (Breen, 73), Shaw. Unused substitutes: Brennan, Donaldson.
