Dog thrown out of car on Mayfield Road
The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a dog was reportedly thrown out of a car on Mayfield Road in Edinburgh.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity were called by a member of the public who found the adult male collie cross running free on Tuesday evening.
The dog, a collie cross Labrador named Jack, is being cared for at the charity’s rehoming centre in Balerno.
Senior Inspector John Toule said, “The lady who called us saw two people, who we understand are students, trying to catch Jack around 8pm and took him home.
“She was told someone had stopped their car on Mayfield Road, thrown Jack out and driven away.
“Although Jack has a microchip, which told us his name, he was registered as missing in 2013 and his previous owner, who was from Musselburgh, sadly passed away last year.
“Unfortunately, we do not have a description of the car or driver. We would urge anyone with information to call our animal helpline on 03000 999 999 and are particularly keen to hear from the two people who were trying to help Jack.
“Jack is in reasonable condition though he has no hair on his underside, which is being assessed by a vet.”
