Witness appeal following series of break-ins
Police are appealing for witnesses following a series of break-ins to commercial premises in Loanhead, Peebles and Edinburgh which happened on Sunday 9th August in the early hours of the morning.
Two cash registers were taken from Snax on Buccleuch Street, Edinburgh around 3.35am and a two-figure sum of cash taken.
A Subway premises at Straiton Mains, Loanhead was broken into and CCTV equipment smashed around 4.10am.
The Sweet Shop in Peebles was targeted by the suspects who forced entry to the shop around 4.55am with the use of a sledgehammer. They made off with the cash register and a three-figure sum of cash.
A number of participants in a cycling event witnessed the incident in Peebles.
The suspects are described as three men wearing dark clothing and balaclavas. They were driving a silver or grey BMW with the registration number SK14 UPF.
Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their inquiries to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Alan Young said: “These suspects have targeted several commercial premises in the space of a few hours across Edinburgh and the Lothians and Borders.
“Although their criminal behaviour has not profited them financially to any great extent, they have caused a considerable amount of damage and alarmed several witnesses.”
