Police appeal to trace witness who helped pull man from Water of Leith
Police are appealing for information in order to trace a witness who assisted in pulling a 58-year-old man from the Water of Leith.
The incident occurred at around 5pm on Monday, August 17, when the 55-year-old fell into the water at Falshaw Bridge, near Arboretum Avenue.
Four women and one unidentified male helped remove the man from the water and alerted authorities.
Despite their efforts, the man later died at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Police, having traced the four female witnesses, are now eager to trace the one male witness who assisted.
Police Sergeant Donna Mackay said: “Our condolences are with the friends and family of the victim who passed away, despite the valiant efforts of these five good Samaritans.
“We are eager to trace the final male witness as part of our enquiries. We would asked this man, or anyone who may know who he is, to contact police as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
