Edinburgh Trams shortlisted for National Transport Awards
Yes there will be those among you who think this is a Fringe joke but it is not! Whatever you might think or have thought about the tram it is a game changer in Edinburgh’s public transport set up.
The company has been shortlisted in the Rail Operator of the Year category at The National Transport Awards taking place in October.
The criteria for this award is based on performance, reliability, passenger growth, customer satisfaction and initiatives to improve service.
Ian Craig, Chief Executive – Transport for Edinburgh said: “Being nominated within this prestigious category is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire tram team. Since we launched the service in May 2014 its popularity has continued to grow, and the people of Edinburgh have really taken trams into their hearts.
“By the end of our first year of operations we carried nearly 5 million passengers and achieved a 95% customer satisfaction rating. Receiving this recognition from our industry peers further highlights Edinburgh Trams commitment to provide a first class service to Edinburgh’s residents and visitors.”
The awards which attract the very best in public transport operators from across the United Kingdom have also shortlisted Transport for Edinburgh in the Travel Information and Marketing category.
