Boxsmall Market confirms children’s entertainment plans

Boxsmall2015-1The team at Boxsmall Market – the unique family festival, which launched at the weekend at Princes Mall Roof Terrace and runs until 31 August – has confirmed its children’s entertainment line up, in addition to more local food and craft traders.

This contemporary, family-friendly summer festival comprises of four interactive zones – Boxsmall Market, Bubbleparc, a designer picnic area and a unique theatre ‘show box’ providing 15-minute, interactive children’s shows throughout the day.

The unique ‘show box’ will present regular daily children’s mini performances, lasting up to 15- minutes each from Friday 26th June. Children of all ages will be immersed in an interactive and hands-on mini theatre environment, taking them on a fun and memorable journey. Performances include: ‘Junkyard Man v The Aliens’, an exciting space adventure, and ‘Mad Scientist Academy’, a show with portions and experiments, and ‘Pirates R Us’, pirate training and a fun adventure.

The Boxsmall Market is an architecturally designed market made up of a series of contemporary, cubic micro-stores, showcasing the very best of Scottish products from delicious local food to cutting edge design, clothing and crafts. Exhibitors include: Edinburgh Natural Skin Care, Chloe Gardner Designs, Meredith Jewellery and Libby Walker illustration.

In the bespoke, sculpturally designed picnic area, visitors can relax and enjoy this unique outdoor eating space, dining from a colourful collection of fresh food stalls. Seasonal Scottish food suppliers will include: Howie’s to Orinoco Latin Foods, Kampung Ali and Los Cardos. Edinburgh craft beer favourites, Innis & Gunn, have also been added to the festival line-up.

If you didn’t get tickets for Glastonbury and fancy some jazz-funk sounds then head to Boxsmall Market where Dr Tickle and the Boogie Hammers, Sun Juice, and The Midnight Specials will be playing every weekend at both lunchtime and early evening (around 5-7pm).

In addition, the Bubbleparc – which was also designed by Boxsmall Market’s architect and designer, Pol Taylor – includes the ball shaped, geodesic Bungeydome allowing children (3+) to reverse jump up to eight metres high.
