Marchmont & Sciennes Community Council has a few vacancies for those who would like to be co-opted.

They explain: “Community Councils are voluntary, statutory bodies made up of local residents. We exist to ascertain, co-ordinate and express the Marchmont & Sciennes community’s views to public bodies at every level, especially with the City of Edinburgh Council.”

Issues they cover include: Planning, Roads, Schools, Houses of Multiple Occupancy (HMOs), Refuse/Recycling/Street cleaning, Licensing, Parks and Green Space and Anti-social behaviour

Big Things On The Beach is hosting a Day on which to ‘Imagine Portobello’.  This takes place on Saturday 30 May, starting at 10:30am, in the Church Hall in Bellfield Street.  More details are provided at http://www.bigthingsonthebeach.org.uk

Leith Walk is beginning to take shape. At least it is looking much better towards the Foot of the Walk where improvement works have been completed.

Now the council is considering the next phase and designs can be examined online here.
