Media reports this morning suggest that Celtic are considering a £1.5million bid for former Hibs’ striker Eoin Doyle after watching him score in Chesterfield’s 2-2 FA Cup draw at Scunthorpe on Tuesday.

The Irishman who was Pat Fenlon’s forst signing from Sligo Rovers has scored an impressive 22 goals this season and in addition to Celtic, a number of other clubs including Derby County, Cardiff City, Sheffield United and Rotherham are also thought to be interested.

Doyle scored 11 goals in 49 games at Easter Road including a vital goal against Falkirk in the semi final of the Scottish Cup which helped Fenlon’s side reach the final where they lost to Celtic.

Despite being offered a new contract at Easter Road, Doyle decided to join his former Sligo Rovers boss Paul Cook at Chesterfield.
