M8 reopens after fatal collision
The first part of the M8 from Hermiston Gait was closed all day today to allow investigations following a fatal collison.
Police have confirmed the motorway has now fully reopened
The incident happened around 6.15am on the M8, between Hermiston and Gogar junctions, when a man who had been travelling in a taxi with two other passengers exited the vehicle and was struck by two vehicles travelling westbound.
Emergency services attended but the 28 year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other reported injuries.
The M8 was closed in both directions while police carried out an investigation to establish the circumstances and police are now appealing for any witnesses to contact police.
Chief Inspector Stevie Dolan said: “I’d like to thank the public for their patience while the M8 was closed to allow us to carry out our investigation. To help us piece together the circumstances, anyone who witnessed this collision or has information which can assist with our enquiries is urged to contact Police on 101.”
