AlcoDigital have the answer for the morning after
Seasons Greetings have come our way from AlcoDigital for a ‘Merry’ Christmas – but not too merry! With the big day almost upon us and drink driving ‘the morning after’ becoming more of an issue, UK company AlcoDigital recommends employers take a precautionary look at their best practice drug and alcohol policy to ensure party-going employees are safe.
AlcoDigital, who supply police-approved drug and alcohol testing equipment to major PLCs and government bodies, have created a best practice drug & alcohol policy which companies can download for free.
The policy was developed in conjunction with the Freight Transport Association and forms a sound basis for all companies seeking to ensure they remain compliant with the Health and Safety Executive obligation to maintain a safe workplace.
Suzannah Robin, AlcoDigital Sales and Training Director said: “No one truly knows whether they are fit to drive the day after. However, using our best practice policy and random testing with our Home Office approved equipment, businesses can stay compliant and employers have peace of mind.”
Fifty years of drink driving campaigning has resulted in most party goers knowing they shouldn’t drive home and instead should get a taxi or public transport. However, many drivers think that ‘sleeping it off’ means fitness to drive the following day, but that is not necessarily the case.
Suzannah continued: “Statistics show that on average 3,000 people are killed or seriously injured each year in drink drive collisions. By drinking and driving, you risk your life, those of your passengers and others on the road. Nearly one in five people who are convicted of drink-driving are caught the morning after. Any amount of alcohol affects your ability to drive. You risk a fine of up to £5,000, a minimum 12-month driving ban and a criminal record.”
AlcoDigital supplies a range of UK Home Office approved, certified breathalysers. From the entry level Draeger 5510 used by the UK Police, to the class-leading Draeger 7510 AlphaNumeric they offer accurate, reliable and certified results that are defendable in court or any other disciplinary process.
AlcoDigital also supplies disposable breathalysers from as little as £1 each which companies can give to staff to keep at home, so they can find out if they are fit to come to into work – before they leave the house.
