Woman assaulted and robbed in Niddrie
Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted and robbed of her handbag in the east of the city at the weekend.
The 55-year-old was walking home through the Thistle Foundation in Niddrie shortly after 9pm on Sunday 16th November when she was approached by a man.
The suspect grabbed the woman’s handbag and pushed her to the ground, before making off.
A passing dog walker found the woman shaken and distressed and came to her assistance.
PC Kevin Walls, who is based at Craigmillar, said: “Thankfully the victim was not seriously injured but this was an unprovoked attack in which her handbag was stolen and we are obviously keen to trace the man responsible as soon as possible.
The suspect is described as being a teenager, of slim build, around 5ft 5in, and he was wearing a dark-coloured cotton zip-up top at the time of the assault and robbery.
Anyone who has any information regarding this incident should contact Police Scotland on 101 or, alternatively, phone the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
