Alan Stubbs

Hibs’ Head Coach Alan Stubbs is happy with the progress made so far since his arrival from Everton in the summer, but he admits that his team are not the finished article and the squad will be strengthened in the January transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Hibs TV, Stubbs said: “The transformation here at the club has been huge – from the day I walked in to where we are now is night and day.

“We’ve managed to put a structure in place where there is a professional look to everything that we’re doing.

“I think everybody here sees it as being a positive and happy environment to work in and no matter what line of work you’re in, that’s important and helps to breed success.

“We’re three months into a long-term project. The club has already completely changed and, when we do go up, with the structure and ethos that we’ve got then situations like last season will never happen again.

“In the space of three months, I feel like I’ve been in the job for five years – I’ve learned so much so quickly.

“From my point of view, it has been an absolutely unbelievable learning curve and I’ve learned an awful lot in a short space of time.

“That will all stand me in good stead in the future and help me to deal with situations much better and much quicker.

“It has been a rollercoaster, but right now I feel I’m about to experience the exciting bit.

“We’re still not the finished article and we are still looking to strengthen the squad in January.

“It’s not going to happen overnight, but we want to give ourselves a fighting chance come the end of the season where we’re in and around the promotion and play-off positions.”

Stubbs also praised the backing the team has received from supporters and says the fans can see the progression on the pitch.

He added: “You don’t get a standing ovation from your fans, like we did after the Dundee United game, if they don’t like what they’re seeing.

“Our fans have been great and they’ve always got behind the team – that’s all you can ask.

“I think they can see there is an improvement. They can see what we’re trying to do and how we’re trying to do it.

“If they can see progress then we know they’ll get right behind us.”
