Police in Edinburgh are appealing for information to help trace a 32-year-old woman reported missing from her home in the city’s southside.
Laura Gorrie, from Wharton Square, near Lauriston Place, has not been seen since Friday, October 10, when she said she was going to the ASDA store at Chesser.
Laura has gone missing on a number of occasions before, when she has travelled to London, Aberdeen, Inverness, Cardiff, Blackpool and Glasgow. It is believed that on this occasion she has travelled to Glasgow or Dundee, but may also now be in Birmingham or London and might be staying in hostel-type accommodation.
She is a particularly vulnerable person, depends on regular medication which she did not take with her, and police are keen to ensure that she is safe.
Laura is described as white, 5 ft 8in, large build, long brown/strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes, wears glasses, and a Tasmanian devil tattoo on her upper right arm, with an ‘S’ above and ‘Dad’ below. She was last seen wearing a grey, hooded, ‘Slazenger’ jumper and navy blue jogging bottoms.
Inspector Murray Tait, who is leading the search, said: “Laura has been missing since October 10th and we are keen to trace her whereabouts as her family are increasingly worried. I would appeal to Laura to get in touch with her family or the police to let us know she is safe and well, and anyone with information that can assist is urged to contact police on 101.”

Pupils at Penicuik High are appealing for the return of a ceremonial mace designed and carved by them to celebrate the Commonwealth Games.
The mace, which features symbols of the county such as mining and the Midlothian leaf, is a work of art and is due to go on show as part of a school exhibition.
However, the pupils have been left bitterly disappointed after the mace disappeared at the end of the Queen’s Baton relay celebration in Dalkeith Country Park in June.
Councillor Bob Constable, cabinet member for education, said: “The pupils are desperate to get it back. I think they kept hoping it had just been mislaid and would eventually turn up.
“However, this hasn’t been the case and, despite the pupils launching their own hunt for it. It’s never been found. If anyone does have it, then if they could return it to the school. No questions will be asked – we are thinking either someone doesn’t realise it is wanted or has it as a prank.”
Pupils Lily Forrest and Natasha Lowe said they were surprised and disappointed the mace has not turned up.
They said: “We put a lot of effort into making the mace and would love to see it back in the school.”
