Church to discuss sex trafficking at the Fringe on Thursday
Sex trafficking is to be discussed by the Church of Scotland at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Members of the Church and Society Council are teaming up with the author and cast members of a play titled ‘Broken Dolls’ – which explores the realities of human trafficking – for a talk-back session tomorrow after the 6.30 performance at Riddle’s Court in the Lawnmarket.
The play has received rave reviews from the critics.
Broken Dolls recounts the story of Narcisa, a young Moldovan girl, tricked and sold into the sex industry when a seemingly innocent interview turns into her worst nightmare.
At the General Assembly of 2012, the Church of Scotland, in a report, drew attention to the anguish and misery caused by human trafficking. It called for action to reduce the demand for sexual services throughout Scotland.
Graham Blount, Church and Society Council Secretary, said: “We welcome this chance to explore human trafficking, its impact and Scottish responses to it; and invite you to join us for the play and discussion.”
Tickets can be purchased online at the Edinburgh Fringe Box Office.
