Audio – What happened at The Edinburgh International Magic Festival
The Edinburgh International Magic Festival has just celebrated its fifth year with many sell-out shows during the week.
The eight day festival drew an audience of nearly 10,000 people at 10 venues across the city, bringing together some of the top international names in magic.
As well as presenting high profile performers such as Spanish magician David Blanco and home-grown talent Billy Reid, the festival ran workshops and classes to encourage everybody to try their hand at the art of illusion.
Festival highlights included an eye-catching two day levitation routine in the middle of the Grassmarket and the transformation of the Royal Mile’s Camera Obscura into the Tower of Illusion – with audiences invited to put a team together and face “bloodthirsty dragons and devious wizards”.
