Now that the date is set for the first tram to run with passengers aboard, the ticketing details have been added to the Edinburgh Trams website.

Road shows are to be held over the next two weekends to give members of the public the chance to meet Edinburgh Trams staff and to look around the new trams before they go into operation on 31 May 2014. The events at St Andrew Square will be held on Saturday 17 May and Saturday 24 May between 12pm and 2pm when two trams will be at the stop.

Edinburgh Trams Ticketing Services Assistants will be on hand to explain how the new system works and they will be handing out tram user guides to road show visitors.

Tram ticketing, pricing and timetable information is now available  on the Edinburgh Trams website.

Councillor Lesley Hinds, Transport Convener, said: “Having unveiled the launch date, the publication of this ticket and timetable information is an important step in the final preparations for commencing Edinburgh Trams passenger services later this month. One of the key things we’re keen to emphasise is how straightforward it is to travel on both bus and tram – you can use your smartcard or day ticket on both.

“We’re pleased as a Council to have been able to fund the use of Concessionary Travel cards for Edinburgh residents, too.”

Tom Norris, Edinburgh Trams Director & General Manager, said: “The closer we get to passenger service, the more people are eager to find out how they’ll use the trams once we go live. We’ve produced clear, step-by-step leaflets explaining how to validate your smartcard or Concessionary Travel card as well as use the ticket vending machines on the platforms and mobile tickets. The information is also available at www.edinburghtrams.com.

“We’re delighted to be hosting two public roadshows on Saturday 17 and 24 May where members of the public can come along to St Andrew Square, have a look around a tram and familiarise themselves with its features as well as chat to our ticketing services assistants who’ll be on hand to answer any queries they might have about using trams come 31 May.”
