This is the current view from the York Place tram stop. It’s been like this for almost two weeks, and it’s not the only address on this street that’s surrounded by rubbish. Apparently Edinburgh City Council are not collecting black bags (that aren’t in the new gull-proof sacks) in order to encourage people to recycle. Spot the irony. Meanwhile they’ve made no attempt to inform the public of the new rules.
So now we have sights like this across the city, and it invites other Edinburghers to dump their uncollected rubbish also. What’s more, from personal experience, I can tell you complaining (even five days in a row) doesn’t make any difference. Though I’m hoping you might see a potential story in this, and get the council to address the problem.
