Dance ‘Til Dawn: Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace
Strictly Come Dancing favourites Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace were back in Edinburgh with a brand new show, Dance ‘Til Dawn! After wowing audiences across the country with Midnight Tango, the sparkly duo returned with a sensational dance show. They performed at The Playhouse at the beginning of the month.
Now Flavia writes about the show.
This new show, Dance ‘til Dawn, is set in the 1940s often known as the Golden Age of Hollywood. It is a comedy in which the writers have put together lots of different dance styles, with the intention of letting the music and the choreography tell the audience the story.
It was set in a film studio, however the spectators have been taken on a journey to a gangsters den, a club, a pool party and a lot more. In addition, an amazing live orchestra, world class dancers, beautiful costumes, wonderful music and Vincent and I do our very best with footwork and the joyful choreography.
I was born on 13 March 1980 and I am an Italian professional dancer based in Britain. My professional dance partner is Vincent Simone (branded when performing together as ’Vincent and Flavia’). After having some success in dancing competitions in 2006 we both started our ‘adventure’ on the BBC’s Television Show Strictly Come Dancing. This gave us the opportunity to meet a UK audience who immediately appreciated and acknowledged our dancing. With the support of our fans we then decided to start our own shows, first Midnight Tango and now Dance ‘til Dawn.
It’s very exciting putting together a show from scratch, you slowly see it come together and develop into something that was purely in your head at first, it is a long process and lots of work involved but incredibly satisfying. Our last show Midnight Tango ran for three years. An amazing experience. It has been so exciting, it’s difficult to put into words how I feel, and the gratitude I feel for all the support. It has been this fantastic support of the public that pushed, me, Vincent and the director, in preparing and organising the new show that will hopefully be as successful as the last one, or why not even more?!
My dancing partner Vincent and I spent two weeks in the summer last year with our director just the three of us to prepare as much as possible, then only four weeks with all the cast members.
We started touring around the 15th of February and opened in Eastbourne to some great audiences that week, the tour goes all over the UK till July with the last show that will be placed in Southampton.
Edinburgh is one of my favourite places to perform, I love the theatre and the audience are always so responsive which I love, it give us performers so much energy. It’s a beautiful city with a great atmosphere so I enjoyed going for walks during the day before the shows.
