Paul Hanlon voted Hibs’ fans Player of the Year
Paul Hanlon was voted the Hibernian Supporter’s Player of the Year last night at a dinner at the Hibs’ Club in Sunnyside.
The 24 year old has been in impressive form for the club he supported as a youngster although he missed Saturday’s defeat due to a knee injury.
He made his debut as a 17 year old in a 3-0 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Easter Road and since then has made another 193 appearances scoring nine times.
Recently Hibs manager Terry Butcher told the media that he believes that it is only a matter of time before Hanlon who has been capped an impressive 33 times at Under-19 and Under-20 level by Scotland, many of them as captain, gains full international recognition.
Alex Harris won the Young Player of the Year award after breaking through into the first team under Pat Fenlon last year and helping the club to the Scottish Cup Final with a fantastic performance against Falkirk in the semi-final.
Unfortunately Harris suffered a serious injury against Motherwell in the opening game of the season and has only recently returned to first team action.
Lewis Stevenson won a ‘special recognition’ award.
