Dead puppy found near West Bowling Green Street
The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after the body of an injured puppy was found under a bush in Edinburgh.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted when a member of the public made the grim discovery on the Water of Leith Walkway next to West Bowling Green Street on Monday 17 March at approximately 8.45am.
A post-mortem revealed the four month old female Jack Russell terrier died as a result of a blow to the head.
Inspector June Chalcroft said, “The post-mortem concluded the pup had been dead for 24 to 48 hours when she was found.
“It’s a busy pathway and likely she would have been spotted quickly by passers-by so we think her body may only have been there since the early hours of Monday morning.
“Unfortunately, it’s possible someone has injured this young dog maliciously and then dumped her body.
“We are very keen to find out what happened to this poor little pup and we are urging anyone who recognises her or has any information to contact us as soon as possible.”
Those with information should call the Scottish SPCA animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
