Craigmillar pharmacy celebrates 30 years of healthcare provision

An Edinburgh pharmacy is celebrating 30 years of healthcare provision in a city community.

Pharmacist Alan Glauch bought the John A Smith Pharmacy business in Craigmillar in 1984 and has been a crucial part of health provision in the area ever since.

Alan said: “We are very proud of what we’ve achieved here and how the pharmacy has achieved a growing significance in the healthcare and welfare picture.

“We think that three decades as part of life on Niddrie Mains Road is worth celebrating. Over that time, health provision has changed enormously and the community pharmacy has assumed increasing importance within the NHS… and in people’s lives.

As well as the more obvious prescribing and advising services, pharmacist  Alan and his team deliver a range of crucial services to the people of Criagmillar, Niddrie and beyond.

The forward-thinking team at John A Smith has embraced the shifts in the role of community pharmacy within the NHS and risen to the challenge and continues to do so.

Alan added: “There’s no doubt a pharmacy is often the first place someone will access healthcare. At John A Smith the team’s training and experience reflect that. We are delighted to meet the needs of our community with first-class professional healthcare.”
