Unexplained death of man in Portland Street stair

The death of a man found in the common stair of a block of flats in Newhaven last night is being treated as unexplained.

Detectives launched an investigation after the middle-aged man was discovered in Portland Street.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police are carrying out an inquiry following the discovery of a man’s body in the common stair of a flatted property in Portland Street at around 6pm on Sunday.

“The death is currently being treated an unexplained.”
