I said in my earlier article that I would review the venue later, so here it is. The Torphichen Inn used to be one of Scotland’s leading tribute band venues and since taking over two years ago, soon to be owner Kenny Craig and promoter Bill Lothian have tried to turn it into a venue for real bands. With a focus on talent and originality, they want to promote great music and want to bring in new and exciting bands, singers and musicians from all over the world.

Only two weeks ago they had ‘The ABC of Canadian Music’ which featured 3 of the best singer songwriters the Canada has to offer. Next month they play host to a Folk n Reel Night, with Edinburgh based; Lads Wi Gear & The Shipping Forecast.

So with the fantastic D&B audio rig they have covered the sound and with their eye for original talent they have got the music covered so again, check out their web site and watch out for more reviews, because I’ll be back.

  1. As one third of The Shipping Forecast, am delighted to see the advance publicity for forthcoming gig at Torphichen Inn! Feel it’s only fair to point out though folks, that our set may well draw on material by folk artistes such as Fats Waller, Nat King Cole and Django Reinhardt . . .

ps All 3 of us by the way are based in or around the quaint wee fishing village of Broughty Ferry, not a pint’s throw from MoR Brewery who are providing cask ale for the the above event! Cheers!
