Keano boost for injured Hibs’ striker Cody Mulhall
Newly appointed Republic of Ireland Assistant Manager Roy Keane took time out from his busy schedule yesterday to telephone seventeen year old Hibs’ striker Cody Mulhall and wish him well as he recovers from ligament damage sustained after landing awkwardly during an under 20s win over Dundee United in Arbroath last month.
The Irish born striker from Athy Co Kildare who has been in sparkling form this season received immediate treatment from senior physio Kitty Mackinnon after the incident, but the club later confirmed that he was likely to be out for several months.
Cody had just returned to the club after his selection for the Ireland Under 19 squad where he was an unused substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Norway. Last year, he was an ever-present for the Ireland Under 17 side and featured in all ten fixtures, scoring against Azerbaijan in two games and again against Romania.
Details of the contact emerged when Keane tweeted: β Just off the phone to a young lad Cody Mulhall of Hibs, lad is injured just now but has a big future.β
Cody responded by tweeting: βAll I am saying is Roy Keane is a top man!! Just off the phone to him, got my spirits up, means a lot, thanks Roy !!β
