Edinburgh Festival Fringe Preview – Granny’s Gone Wild

Still cocking a snook at the Grim Reaper’s flaccid blade – her eightieth birthday being imminent – Lynn Ruth Miller’s alter-ego, Granny, lays siege to the closed-minded doors of ageism and sexism with her battering-ram of burlesque comedy and stereotype shredding cabaret.

No stranger to the Fringe, or indeed controversy, Miller promises to ‘…tell it like it is’ and that, ‘The best is coming and she’s determined to get it!’ US born story-teller, comedy stand-up (maybe sitting-down occasionally) author and artist  – this ‘Granny’ with grit garners formidable praise from the like of David Walliams and probably some blokes down the pub if you bought them a pint first. This aliteratively entitled show suggests sweaty bus-passes being thrown on to the stage as Miller reaches her climax.

Indeed, a fearsome scenario. Recent Twitter gossip alleging that all profits (ha!) from the show will be used by Miller to AirMail tins of pilchards back home to feed her cats has been grossly exaggerated.

Venue 145 – C nova-India Buildings, Victoria Street. August 3-26th. 18.00. 50 minutes. 12+. Tickets from £6.50-£10.50.
