Earlier today Currie Bowling Club played host to the “Smelly Feet” Charity Bowling Tournament.

The tournament was organised by Currie Bowling Club member, Gordon Page and his good friend, American recording artist, Dean Friedman.

Asked how the event came about, Page told The Edinburgh Reporter:-  “I’ve had Dean here for the past few years, just the two of us, and this year he asked if he could bring some friends along.

“I said ‘yeah no problem’ and suggested we make it a charity match”

As a result, all proceeds of the Bowling Tournament will go towards an organisation called Octagon, which is a local charity aimed at helping local children who are currently hospitalised in health care facilities across Edinburgh.

The friends of Dean Friedman, who were brought in to compete against some of the local Currie Bowling Club members, were the cast and crew of  the musical “Smelly Feet” which is making it’s world premiere at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The show  is an adaptation of the book written by  Friedman himself, who had the idea of making the story into a musical, and with the help of co-producer and director, J.D Henshaw, that vision came a reality.

“It’s just a fun, sort of toe-tickling, happy-go-lucky family show, and its about a group of kids trying to find a cure for smelly feet” Friedman told The Edinburgh Reporter.

The tournament was played in great spirits all day and Friedman, who is perhaps best known for singing such top-40 hits  as ‘Lucky Stars’, ‘Lydia’ and ‘Ariel’ said it was “just a lovely afternoon and for a good cause”.

If you would like to go and see “Smelly Feet” during the festival you can book tickets on the EdFringe website, the show is running from August 1-25 (except for Wednesdays) at 12.10pm at Sweet Grassmarket Venue.
