Luxury wedding service launches

Over 50 of Scotland’s luxury venues and providers have signed up to a new site promoting the best the country has to offer for weddings – Luxury Scottish Wedding. With the wedding industry worth an incredible £10 billion to the UK economy, the site aims to draw together the best that Scotland has to offer and increase the market share north of the border.

The new site was created to reflect the changing trends in the wedding sector, including civil partnerships, second weddings and the growing interest in wedding tourism. These factors have changed the face of weddings and given an economic boost to this already lucrative sector.

Created by seasoned hospitality specialist, Tom Goodfellow, the new site offers a one stop shop to happy couples looking to tie the knot in Scotland, in style. Having worked at the Fairmont St Andrews, the Marriott Dalmahoy, the Edinburgh Conference Centre, Heriot-Watt University and Carlowrie Castle, Goodfellow knows what both hospitality providers and buyers are looking for, and in bringing the two together he has hit on a niche – nothing else exists like it.

Goodfellow said:- “Weddings have changed over the past ten years. People are getting married older; civil partnerships are up by 559% since 2005, and second weddings now account for a third of all ceremonies – the industry is seeing big growth in the variety of celebrations, and more people are looking for luxury, bespoke weddings. The site filters the very best wedding options, creating a shop window of excellence – demonstrating what Scotland does best. We are proud to feature not just Scotland’s top venues, but world-class hotels, including The Caledonian – A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, which is very kindly hosting our launch party in July.”

Aiming to secure 200 sign-ups over the next year, many of the highest rated venues in Scotland have already signed up to the website, including the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews, the Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, and Edinburgh Castle.  The site also features luxury wedding photographer Tony Marsh, CC21 fireworks and Ecosse Classic Cars.
