We all wear clothing, even if we don’t want to. Some of us wear makeup, Karin definitely doesn’t want too.
HOT BOX tackles the everyday struggles of a shabby tracksuit girl in a nip-tucked Kardashian world.
Melbourne cabaret sensation Karin Danger has been delighting crowds with her wicked tunes for eight years. Hailed by The Scotsman as “genuinely delightful and deliciously dark”, Karin returns to Edinburgh to sing about beauty, makeup and everything that’s “so hot right now” in her new show HOT BOX.
Using a full banquet of performance styles including storytelling, stand up, dance, character, sketch and mime HOT BOX is a one-woman musical extravaganza featuring Karin Danger’s award-winning song writing skills. The ten new songs written for HOT BOX include a jazz lament of the perils of dating outside your age bracket, the destructive aftermath of a night out on the town, and a wheezing hip hop anthem for anyone who has attempted a Pump class.
HOT BOX premiered in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, had a stand-alone season, and is now jet setting off to the Edinburgh Fringe. Last year, Karin Danger was shortlisted for the People’s Choice award in Edinburgh Fringe as well as winning the Victorian division of the National Cabaret Showcase.
Directed by Scott Gooding, who doesn’t own a box, but has heard they can be quite useful.
