Fatal road collision

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road collison.

The incident happened just after 7pm last night, Thursday 25 April,  on Lasswade Road, between Lasswade and the City Bypass.

A 24-year-old woman was driving her Volkswagen Passat southbound when her vehicle was involved in a collision with a Lothian Bus.

Emergency services responded to the scene. However, the woman died at the scene as a result of her injuries.

The road remained closed last night while Road Policing Officers continued   to investigate at the scene.

Anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokesman said:- “Tragically, this collision resulted in a young woman’s death and we are currently trying to establish exactly what happened during this incident.

“Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact police immediately.”
