Barclays supports art sale for Sick Kids Friends Foundation

Barclays was recently a proud sponsor of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation’s Postcards 2012 event which took place on 1 November 2012. The event was held at Lyon & Turnbull’s show room in Edinburgh and gave art lovers the chance to snap up unique pieces of work by renowned artists.

The biennial Postcards event featured an exhibition of postcard-sized original works donated by a selection of acclaimed and up-and-coming artists with proceeds of £42,000, so far, going to the Sick Kids Friends Foundation.

While the names of all contributing artists were listed in the event brochure, the postcards did not have names attached to them and these remained a secret until purchase, so visitors had the chance to buy a ‘mystery masterpiece’ or to try and match the artists to their work.

Each postcard was priced at £300 and all funds raised will be used to support SKFF’s current ’artists in residence’ project at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children – a drive to enrich both the current and planned new hospitals with art created by a range of appointed artists.

Mark Little, Managing Director of Wealth and Investment Management at Barclays, Scotland and Northern Ireland, was delighted to be supporting the event: “Barclays has a long and proud history of supporting The Sick Kids Friends Foundation. As a former Board of Trustees member for the Foundation, I know first hand of the invaluable work the charity does. We would like to thank everyone who came along to support this wonderful cause.”
