Woman dies after Dryden Street Fire – updated

Lothian and Borders Police have confirmed the identity of a woman who died following a fire at an address in Dryden Street, Edinburgh last Wednesday, 26 September.

She is 26-year-old Caroline Lynsey Kyle from Granby Avenue, Livingston.

Ms Kyle suffered serious burns following the incident and was taken to St John’s Hospital in Livingston.

Despite the best efforts of medical staff, she succumbed to her injuries at around 9.10pm on Monday 1st October.

A 59-year-old woman who was also injured in the incident is still in a serious but stable condition in St John’s Hospital, Livingston.

A baby girl who was in the house at the time escaped without injury and is currently being cared for by relatives.

Lothian and Borders Police have confirmed that a woman injured in a fire at an address in Dryden Street, Edinburgh, last Wednesday  has died.

The 26-year-old woman had suffered serious burns in the incident and had been in a critical condition in St John’s Hospital in Livingston ever since.

She passed away around 9.10pm last night .

The incident happened around 10.40pm last Wednesday and officers were called to the residential property in Dryden Street.

Two women were injured in the incident, however a baby girl who was also in the house escaped unharmed.

A 59-year-old woman is still in a serious but stable condition in St John’s Hospital, Livingston.

The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
