Fundraising Ball for Breast Cancer Care
News of a fundraiser in a couple of weeks time!
A family facing breast cancer is throwing a ball to help raise funds that will provide emotional and practical support for people affected by the disease. Mummy’s Ball takes place on 12 May 2012 at Edinburgh Corn Exchange with proceeds donated to Breast Cancer Care.
The ball is the brainchild of Rosie Sutherland, 41 and her two daughters, Emma, 12 and Kate, 9. Rosie, from Fairmilehead, was inspired to fundraise for Breast Cancer Care after being diagnosed in February with stage one breast cancer. Last month Rosie, who manages Big Al Entertainment Group, under went a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.
Mummy’s Ball will be hosted by Forth One DJ Grant Stott and promises to be a night of entertainment and fun complete with a red carpet and pink fizz reception, dinner and tribute band, Abba Fever. There are also prizes to be won on the night including dinner, bed and breakfast and a deluxe suit at Stobo Castle.
Rosie Sutherland said: “My 12 year old daughter Emma used the Breast Cancer Care website to answer all her questions and give her words of comfort and that is why I chose to fundraise for them. I have had an amazing time doing the calendars and will celebrate my recent all clear from Breast Cancer at Mummy’s Ball. Please join us in celebrating life and support Breast Cancer Care in buying one of our fun filled calendars”
Mummy’s Ball is just one of the fundraising initiatives which Rosie and her family have organised recently, in a bid to raise £35,000 for Breast Cancer Care. Eldest daughter Emma raised £1500 after holding a sponsored silence and Rosie, with the help of some of her friends, shot two tasteful nude ‘Calendar Girls’ style calendars – one male and one female, which will be launched at the ball.
Forth One DJ Grant Stott said:- “I really admire Rosie for throwing herself into her fundraising during this period and I’m happy to play a part in it. I am very excited about hosting Mummy’s Ball, it will be a night to remember and I would urge people to buy tickets for the event and support Rosie in her fundraising for Breast Cancer Care.”
The money raised will go towards helping fund the many vital services that Breast Cancer Care provide for men and women affected by breast cancer such as a 24 hour helpline, regional workshops and its monthly Moving Forward seminars and diet & wellbeing sessions.
