Occupy Edinburgh agree to move by 5 p.m. today
Occupy Edinburgh emerged from Edinburgh Sheriff Court shortly before 12 noon today claiming a victory, although they have agreed to move out of the camp they set up in the square in October 2011.
Essential Edinburgh raised an action of eviction against the campers, but no court decree was handed down. Instead Occupy Edinburgh agreed to clear the square by 5p.m. today, failing which Essential Edinburgh will return to the Sheriff Court for the eviction notice to be made formal.
One of the representatives who had been in court claimed that the Sheriff who heard their case was sympathetic to their cause.
