The big news of the week is that the pandas are coming to Edinburgh this Sunday. Severin Carrell writing in The Guardian gives a good account of what we are to expect.

The Transport, Infrastructure and Environment Committee meet this morning at 10 at the City Chambers.

You may already know that there is to be a strike tomorrow. The Independent has a guide as to how it might affect you if you have a hospital appointment at St John’s or Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Otherwise The City of Edinburgh Council website has full information. All schools and nurseries, and many other council run services will be closed, but Lothian Buses should be unaffected.

The Press Association report that a woman has been taken to hospital after a fire at Stenhouse Gardens North.

Balerno Village Trust report on the Farmers’ Market which will take place on 10 December 2011, although they say that they are still booking in people who want a trade stall at the event.
