Christmas cards for charity
Twelve local charities including Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) have joined forces to set up shop at The Original Charity Christmas Card Shop at St George’s West Church, Shandwick Place.
Now in its 26th year the shop is a feature of Christmas in the capital and is open Monday to Saturday, 10am–4pm until Tuesday 20 December. This year so far, it has raised over £1,000 for charity.
As well as having a huge selection of Christmas cards for sale, there is also a centre table stocking a variety of stocking fillers, wrapping paper and traditional advent calendars. The money raised from this table is used to cover the running costs of the shop.
CHAS Fundraiser, Amy Telford said, “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the Christmas Card Shop over the years and to our wonderful volunteers, who run the shop daily. The vital work carried out by the charities involved simply wouldn’t be possible without your support.”
Including CHAS the charities involved this year are; Perennial, MS Therapy Centre, Maggies Centre, Children 1st, Leukaemia Research Fund, YMCA Leith Acorn Centre, St Columba’s Hospice, Friends of Samaritans, Waverley Care, Alzheimer Scotland, Action on Dementia Foundation, and The Scottish Association for Children With Heart Disorders (SACHD).
