Fringe show goes to the Sydney Opera House

Edinburgh-based Nonsense Room Productions will be taking their children’s show ‘Hairy Maclary and Friends’ to the Sydney Opera House for five weeks, from 15 December 2011 – 15 January 2012.

Bruce Strachan, Artistic Director of the company said:- “We are thrilled to be touring Hairy Maclary to Sydney Opera House for its Australian debut. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to perform at one of the world’s most iconic venues. We are excited about taking the little dog with the big personality to meet new audiences on the other side of the world.”

Hairy Maclary and Friends is an official stage adaptation of New Zealand author, Lynley Dod’s Hairy Maclary children’s books. The books feature characters such as Hercules Morse, as big as a horse, Bottomley Potts, covered in spots, Schnitzel von Krumm with the very low tum and Scarface Claw, the toughest tomcat in town.

Hairy Maclary and Friends premiered in Scotland in 2010 with a sold-out run at the Fringe. In 2011, the show toured to venues throughout the UK and will be doing so again in 2012.

Nonsense Room Productions is based just outside Edinburgh, in Roslin. It was established in 2002 by Bruce Strachan and Simon Beattie and has grown rapidly in the last two years.
