Edinburgh Festival Fringe Review: Edinburgh Tonight (****)

If you have very little time to see shows and don’t know what to see then this show will produce 7 acts in about 1 hour flat! The acts change daily so no show is the same. Joe Simmons and Michael Topping on keyboard – from Topping and Butch – humorously lead this cabaret show with Lorraine Chase. There are plenty of laughs from the audience though the stage is almost too small for some of the acts. If this show returns next year, a better venue would do this show a world of good as would as would a little more time to allow Topping to tinkle on the ivories.

Having said that, on this occasion the audience were treated to the following acts:

Dave Lynn – a very established drag queen – doing the Black and White Minstrel show

André Vincent – a comedian doing a comedians chat show over a game of Texas Hold’em for real money

The Briefs Boylesque Dance troupe – there was a hillarious pre-recorded video scene with Topping and Butch learning how to do the Boylesque act

Alan Anderson – Whisky fir Dummies – a show where the audience get to taste 6 bottles of malt

3’s a company 2’s a party – an Australian/English comedy trio

The Sundaes –  a singing trio

This was a very enjoyable hour that had the audience laughing, at times out of their chairs dancing and generally having a fantastic time. With time at the fringe running out, there is something for everyone here!

Edinburgh Tonight can be seen at Space 54 daily at 4.50pm until Saturday 27th August.
