Stevenson College students raise money for Shelter
A group of dedicated Stevenson College Edinburgh (SCE) students have raised a grand total of £2,400 for homeless charity organisation, Shelter.
As part of their course, Stevenson’s HNC Events students put on four unique events: a Race Night which was held at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange; a James Bond themed Casino Evening at Stereo Nightclub; a Stand Up Comedy Gala at Espionage Nightclub; and a music gig held at Maggie’s Chamber, which played to an audience of over 100. Students sold around 280 tickets across all four events.
In addition to the ticket sales, the money raised was also achieved through raffle sales, donations, sponsorships and secret auctions.
Praising the efforts of the HNC Events students, June Wigfield, Senior Lecturer at Stevenson applauded the dedication and hard working ethos of each student and added: ‘I am extremely proud of the professional way that our students planned and participated in their events.’
The cheque was presented earlier this month to Alison Punnett, Senior Fundraiser at Shelter, who said: ““Their hard work has really paid off and the contribution they have made to Shelter Scotland will go a long way. They should be very proud of themselves.”
Founded in 1966 by Reverend Bruce Kenrick, Shelter works to alleviate the suffering caused by homelessness and poor housing conditions.
