Alex Salmond has been nominated by the Presiding Officer of The Scottish Parliament to The Queen as the First Minister of Scotland. His candidacy was unopposed, although Green MSP, Patrick Harvie, had considered standing, if only to promote a debate. 68 SNP MSPs voted for his candidacy. Although all others abstained from voting Salmond was approved by simple majority. We will have to wait and see if all other SNP plans are voted through just as easily.
The fundraising for the museum has exceeded its target by £1m according to The Scotsman. The museum is due to reopen in the summer.
The Edinburgh International Film Festival programme was launched yesterday with everything from documentaries to a mobile bicycle powered cinema. We told you about it here.
