Some of Edinburgh’s finest artists have donated pieces of their own art to an auction in aid of a vital helpline service for children.
Members of the Edinburgh art community such as Deborah Cameron, Damian Callan, Emily Hogarth and Mark Nicholas Edward, amongst others, have kindly donated art to help raise funds for the NSPCC’s ChildLine service in Scotland – the free and confidential helpline service for children and young people.
Artwork can be viewed from Monday, March 7 at the Drill Hall, Dalmeny Street, Edinburgh, where people can make a silent bid in advance of the auction. The actual auction will take place on Thursday, March 10.
Deborah Cameron, who will be donating a piece called ‘Seagull Beach, Isle of Harris’, said: “I was delighted to be asked to donate a piece of my art work for auction on behalf of ChildLine in Scotland. Hopefully it will help raise funds for this service which does such important and valuable work for vulnerable children.”
Susie Barron, NSPCC Scotland community fundraising manager, said: “The art auction will be an excellent opportunity to invest in some truly amazing artwork from local artists whilst helping to raise vital funds for the ChildLine service in Scotland.”
She added: “By supporting the auction people will help ChildLine continue to be there for more children in Scotland and across the UK.”
Auctioneer Mark Cornish, from Ramsay Cornish Auctioneers and Valuers, will be taking the bids at the auction which will be held from 6pm to 8:30pm. Some of the artists will also be there on the night to talk about their work.
