Luxury Hotel Group, The Town House Collection (owner of Blythswood Square in Glasgow and The Bonham in Edinburgh) is inviting youngsters across Scotland to nominate their mum and dad for the inaugural Mother/Father of the Year Award.

The lucky youngster will win a fabulous Sunday lunch for the whole family and mum or dad will also enjoy a day’s pampering at the Spa at Blythswood Square.

Hans Rissmann, Managing Director of the luxury hotel group, said:
‘Every Mum and Dad is special and we welcome many families to celebrate Mother and Father’s Day at both our properties.  We want to encourage young people across Scotland to tell us about why their Mum or Dad is particularly special to them.  It could be as simple as mum always helps with homework, that dad gets up early to get to swimming training even in the bad weather or something bigger such as working overtime to pay the vet’s bill for the family pet or becoming a qualified youth club leader in order to secure the facility for the community.’

The nomination criteria are:-

Nominations can be made by young people aged 8-18
Nominees must live in Scotland
Closing date for nominations is Friday 18th March, 2011
Winner will be notified by 25th March, 2011
Nominations should be no longer 200 words in length and be accompanied by a family photograph or 60 second video clip.

Winning nominees will each receive an invitation for their families to come for lunch at either The Bonham in Edinburgh or Blythswood Square in Glasgow on either Mother or Father’s Day this year.  In addition, winning Mums and Dads will each receive an invitation for two people to enjoy a day at the Spa at Blythswood Square.

The judging panel will include Hans Rissmann, Peter Taylor, Chairman of The Town House Collection, STV presenter Stephen Jardine and BBC Scotland presenter Kaye Adams.

Stephen Jardine said:  “As a father myself I know there is lot of pressure nowadays to be a super dad. I usually fall well short myself !  What we’re looking for is someone ordinary yet extraordinary who goes that little bit further, perhaps in difficult circumstances, to be that special dad”.

Kaye Adams added: ‘We’re not looking for perfect parents or Supermum or Superdad. We’re looking for the ones who do their best, day in-day out, to do the best for their kids. That’s what makes the difference to them. Not one-off, big gestures or flashy gifts but total confidence that mum and dad are on their side. There are a million ways to send out that signal and those are the stories we want to hear.’

Nominations can be made now by email to awards@elainehowiepr.co.uk
