Hollywood uses Edinburgh wave energy company’s technology
One of the latest films to open in the UK is Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. It stars Hollywood legend Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko – and the Oyster wave energy device being developed by Edinburgh company Aquamarine Power Limited.
Public Affairs Officer for Aquamarine Power, Neil Davidson, said:-“Our Oregon Outreach Coordinator, Theresa Wisner, thought she spotted a photo of Oyster on his wall, but it went by too fast for her to be certain. Then, a few minutes later, it panned over Oyster again. So, we are in the movies!
We were approached by the production company over a year ago for images of our device, and of course we were happy to oblige.”
The film is still in the top 5 in the US and is reviewed by the New York Times here. Rated PG the Oliver Stone sequel has already taken over $35m at the US Box Office.
